What do you like in a book?

Do you like long, drawn out series? Or just a quick book and a squeal?
Do you like more action over romance?
What do you like characters to be? Appearing stupid, but smart? Funny but covering something else?

These are just some questions to get it going. List whatever you like in a book!

I like horror, flawed heroes, I hate boks that try to be funny. They tend to be very one generational.
I don't read fiction anymore but I do like non-fiction books that are well written and researched. Most of all I like a book whose sources are traceable and verifiable so that if I am interested enough I may try to understand how the author came to the conclusions he did by following his sources.

I tend to read about freethought and atheism the most, but I also like to read about astronomy, biology, and from time to time for some light reading I will read about the paranormal.
Faith may be defined briefly as an illogical belief in the occurrence of the improbable.

I'm a character girl. A weaker story can be saved by compelling characters. I love the accidental hero & the anti hero. I love to watch characters change, but hate it when it's forced against the cgaracter's grain. I prefer genre book--horror, fantasy, romance, mystery--particularly the books that cross genres. Love the ones that appear in three different places in the bookstore.

I like a great story. Exciting, past paced. The characters also need to feel real. Make real decisions, sometimes be illogical, and just be interesting.
