A victim of inhumanity
a pawn in the game of life
Abandoned by his owners
left to an uncertain future
with someone who loves him
but
cannot keep him
safe forever
but for only a short time
too short
attempting to keep him safe and well
holding him close
chasing the worry from his brow
but there always lingers that fatal truth
that he is doomed
always the sacrificial dog
never truly loved by the ones
who call themselves owners
abandoned, dumped with someone
who does love him
but cannot care for him
forever
forever
it's tragic
disgusting
perturbing
and sick.
It's an outrage
tha people cannot accept
responsibity
for their lives
and the choices they make.
